The Animation web-series Palpitação South Africa was created for the Bola nas Costas Blog at Globoesporte.com*. The episodes were shown before each match of the Brazilian team in the World Cup (FIFA Cup South Africa 2010). With vignettes and gags, it gave a “guess” about what would be the final result for the game. The series had a reissue for the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
Palpitação is a play in the words: Palpitação means palpitation, throb, accelerated heartbeat. But the word can be broken in two parts – Palpit(e) (= hint, guess) + Ação (= action, movement).
NOTE 1: Only the first 3 episodes of the series are available.
NOTE 2: Episode No. 3 (Brazil vs. Portugal) was deliberately inspired by excerpts from the animation of the first opening vignette (1977-1983) of the slapstick-humor TV program Os Trapalhões, shown at Globo TV. This TV show vignette has been created by the Brazilian animator Joaquim 3 Rios.
